Following on from the Aragorn II Elessar Custom Minifigure, this Gimli Custom Minifigure is the second in McLovin’s LOTR Fellowship of the Ring series. Gimli, son of Glóin, Lord of the Glittering Caves is by far the coolest dwarf to ever grace the lands of Middle Earth!

I have had a few comments that I use the words excellent and fantastic too much on this blog when perhaps the minifigure was not all that impressive. Well I think you have to agree that I can use both those adjectives this time!

The sculpting on such a small minifigure is amazing including the designs on his armour and helmet, and then the detailing nicely painted with some excellent highlighting. To sculpture the minifigure McLovin uses the Citadel Green Stuff which doesn’t require baking, you just need to wait for it solidify, and can be purchased at most hobby stores.

The display base is inspired by the entrance of Moria and the axe you see to the side is just meant to be a Goblin Axe, which is embedded in a Dwarf-helm.
