here’s a close up of an all black custom minifig equipped with Hazels custom GOW minifig weapons, this photo really shows the level of detail hazel has gone to in the now infamous saw gun. This photo also gives you a good idea of scale of these custom minifig weapons, in relation to an actual minifig.

here we have two of the box of items I ordered off Hazel, i have to say the finish is supurb, I mean these aren’t even toys, you’re looking at display only items here, the quality is beyond Brickarms, and each one is hand painted, it’s only when you hold one that you actually see how well finished these custom minifig parts are.

Sluban Lego clone Review

Published by Custom MiniFigs under Reviews

Sluban Lego clone Review

Sluban are a Lego clone company, originating from China, and trading under the name of Oxford in Korea, I’m not entirely sure as the packaging and photos seem the same, but  heres the Sluban site and here is the Oxford site.

Sluban don’t retail on the site but I’ve found various places including Wilkinsons (thanks Jasbrick) and Ebay.  It seems that Oxford, produce more products than Sluban. Additionally I found a Dutch website that seems associated with Sluban.

The Sluban bricks are virtually identical to Lego bricks and whilst the suffer from being slightly poorer quality anf finish, they seem to fit with Lego bricks fairly well. The Minifigs however are pretty useless, the minifigs are made similar to Lego minifigs with the same joint movements as a Lego minifig, however the significant difference in the sluban minifigs is the Legs, these are connected to the body differenly and the Legs are more shaped, in actual facts this actually works against the Sluban minifig.

The one key feature about sluban that is brilliant is the minifig helmet (in this case), and the chest piece which Jasbrick commonly uses, these minifig helmets fit perfectly on a Lego minifig and are Idea for any custom minifig work you might choose to do.

When you consider that the Sluban Box i baught cost me less than £1.5 when i baught it in a market in south east asia, and i got two minifig helmets from it, thats about £0.75 per helmet which isn’t too bad, and as for the bricks, I’ll probably still use them.

Featured Lego Custom minifig shop Firestar Toys

Published by Custom MiniFigs under Reviews

Firestartoys.com are a new and up and coming Lego custom minifig shop, speaking with Paul the owner, his hope is that Firestartoys, will be come the largest online store (second to bricklink, which really is more of a marketing place) for lego, Lego minifigs and Lego custom minifigs and accessories.

Paul is a big fan of Lego Starwars and at present this is the largest stock, and whilst its still early days, navigating the site, adding lego minifigs to the shopping cart is a joy and certainly beats having to wade through the tiny images on Bricklink.

From conversations with Paul, he hopes to promote new and innovative custom minifig makers and there’s a good chance custom minifig makers will be able to sell their designs in mass production on Firestar Toys.  There’s also ambitious plans to sponsor some ouf customminifig.co.uk’s future competitions, so make sure you watch this space!

Fancy getting your custom minifigs distributed and making some money from Lego custom minifigs? Get in touch with Firestartoys – they have an open invitation for any custom minifig designers to get in touch and discuss opportunities: sales <at> firestartoys.com

AMazing Armory Custom – Hazel’s custom minifigs

One of the Most elusive custom minifig modders I’ve come accross is Hazel, I can’t seem to find much on they guy, other that some of the most incredible and detailed custom minifigs I’ve ever come accross, it seems that Hazel is based out of south east asia, in Hong Kong and/or Japan, and with classic asian skill in detail the figures that really made an impact on the custom minifig community were Hazel’s gears of war custom minifigs, Hazel is also some how associated with Amazing Armoury and most of Hazel’s custom minifigs are shown with the tag – ‘custom by Hazel

Hazel usually goes by Hazel – Fantasy and his works include MOCs, custom minfigs and custom minifig parts and weapons. His work has also been featured in Dengeki Brick magazine in 2008 (issue 12)

The custom parts by Hazel seem to be made in small custom runs and are probably highly sought after collectibles, It seems that aside from a very small Brick Link store, found here. Most orders are placed for Hazel’s custom minifig parts via the Amazing Armoury flickr profile or Hazel’s Hazel Fantasy profile.

I’m trying to get in touch with Hazel to do an interview and also to buy some of his work, so if any of you have every dealt with Hazel, please do get in touch!

Brick arms NEW Lego custom minifig weapons

Here’s the latest custom minifig weapons released by Brick Arms, personally they aren’t really my cup of tea, but that is probably because I don’t really do much when it comes to space/scifi custom Lego minifigs, I how that this isn’t the direction Brick Arms are going to be taking their custom minifig weapons as a result of the press attention they got from the UK media.

Suffice to say the quality and finish on these custom minifigs is what you would expect from Brick Arms.

Brick Arms minifig weapons review

Brick Arms mini fig logo

BrickArms are one of the most popular online custom minifig accessory manufacturers online, they specialize in producing (relatively) realistic looking military weapons for Lego minifigs and are a pride of place for many minifig collectors due, not least to their high quality finish and strong sense of design. They partnered up with Minifigforlife who are responsible for their UK distribution and marketing.

BrickArms was the brain child of Will Chapman from Richmond WA, and since 2006 has produced a range of over 31 highly collectible weapons, made from ABS plastic, the same type of plastic Lego use. More recently BrickArms caught the attention of the UK media when one of the (small collection of) complete Lego Mini Figures they produced was ‘picked on’ by a reporter from The Sun  who clamed the offending Lego minifig named BrickArms Bandit – Mr. White was ‘Osama Bin Lego’, if anything however, the press who clearly didn’t have much to write about that day,  actually boosted the sales for BrickArms as their forum suggest, and since the release of this press BrickArms have been so inundated with orders that they had to close shop early for christmas just so they could catch up on orders of various minifigs and minifig weapons.

Here’s a pick of the custom minifig:

First Custom MiniFig Post

 lego custom mini fig man

Custom MiniFig was created on the 13th of December 2008, I created this Lego Fan Blog after seeing a custom MiniFig in a newspaper article. As a kid I remember wanting custom Lego minifigs, and my grand father used to get a felt pen and draw on Lego MiniFigs to keep me happy, this was long before Lego placed decals on their minifigs, and the minifigs Only had a flat colour, now Lego has minifigs designed for some of the best films created, including, Star Wars, Speed Racer, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Indiana Jones to name a few.

I hadn’t realized that there was such an active and close knit Lego community and the main reason for my building this site is to share and spread the good word about Lego, no matter what your age.

Custom MiniFig as the name suggests is about customizing lego minifigs, we’ll leave the MOC’s (My Own Creations- Lego Speak for self designed constructions) for the other sites, this site is dedicated to fans of that iconic Lego Man and the infinite possibilities presented by the worlds most timeless and famous toy.
