Lego at Bullring Birmingham
Just got this through the email -
f you go to Bullring today, you’ll find a scale model of the shopping mall made out of 18,000 Lego pieces, together with a couple of hundred mini Lego shoppers that the public of Birmingham have customised to look like themselves and placed within the model.

On Dec 10th the public will once again be invited in to join the fun. They will have there very own Lego replica made and placed within the model. From cowboy hats to spacesuits shoppers are allowed to personalise the figures to reflect their own personalities. Everyone who takes part on the day will also take part in a photoshoot where we’re hoping to get everyone in one big picture.
If you want to come down and spread the Christmas cheer then let us know and we will hold a Lego character for you to turn it into a mini plastic you to be immortalized in the Lego world. You’ll be able to tag your picture of your Lego character on Flickr, Facebook and you can even make a digital character here at www.amodelchristmas.co.uk

MANCHESTER LEGOLAND DISCOVERY CENTRE MODEL BUILDER AUDITIONS
good new for those of you who entered.

FOUR finalists have been named after taking part in open auditions for the role of master model builder at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Manchester.
Twenty hopefuls auditioned at Manchester’s Lowry Hotel on Friday in the hope of winning the coveted position.
Four candidates were chosen from the auditions to go through to the next round of interviews:
- Nicky Pang who traveled from Glasgow to take part in the audition and made a fantastic likeness of Marcel, the master model builder from Berlin. This was all the more impressive as he could not have practiced this prior to the audition.
- Alex Bidolack from Oldham who created a very impressive duck in the first round and a model of Ryan Giggs in the second
- James Shields from the Republic of Ireland who created a stunning model of author Terry Pratchett.
- Sam Hammond from Bury built a whale in the first round and then recreated Ian Brown’s famous black and white album cover in the second
Neil Crittenden, General Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester said: “The level of skill and talent at the auditions was impressive and we saw some fantastic contestants. We were really impressed by his creativity and skill, particularly of the finalists and we look forward to seeing them in the next round.â€
Four runners-up were also named as Arfan Nazar, Rochdale, Andee Rishi, Manchester, Alex Davidson, Manchester, and Tom Swingler, of Hulme.
The ‘master model builder’ position will be based at the new LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Manchester, which will open on March 22nd 2010 in the Trafford Centre. It is the first LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in the UK and the lucky candidate who wins the appointment will literally be paid to build LEGO models all day long.
The candidate needs to be creative, great with children and have good communication skills.
Faced with millions of LEGO bricks when they arrived, auditionees showed how skilled they are at building LEGO models by creating an animal model in just fifteen minutes. The successful builders then passed to the second stage of the auditions when they will need to create a famous face out of LEGO.
The models were judged by model builder Marcel, General Manager of the Manchester LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Neil Crittenden and two child judges aged 12 and five.
The audition aimed to find a potential model builder who is skilled enough to be responsible for developing new features, exhibitions and building new models as well as working with the thousands of children expected to visit the attraction.
well done to all those who entered!
